Welcome to Denali Acres. My name is Maria Imhof and I live in the peaceful Appalachian mountains of Virginia on 40 acres with a
herd of goats, 2 horses, and cats and dogs. I have had Nigerian Dwarf goats since the fall of 1999. That was when my dream of owning livestock came true with my first goat, Squeaky.
The Nigerian Dwarf goat is a miniature dairy goat from West Africa. Ideal for family production, they supply two-five pounds of milk with 5%-10% butterfat. These gentle animals make great pets, companion animals, and 4-H projects. Usually 18-23 inches tall, Nigerian dwarves kid easily and are excellent mothers to their young.
At Denali Acres, herd health is extremely important. We test annually for CAE, TB and
Bangs and have never had a positive result. We are in the Voluntary Scrapie Eradication Program as well. All of our kids are dam-raised because we have found that they are healthier, happier and stronger this way. We spend two to three hours with the kids daily to ensure that they become people friendly.
I breed for correct conformation and milking ability. My goats are registered
with the American Goat Society (AGS) and the Nigerian Dwarf Goat Association (NDGA) and I attend several sanctioned shows a year where my animals have placed well. My show plans for this year include
the New River Valley Fair in Dublin VA and the North Carolina and Virginia State Fairs. If you come to any of these events, please stop to visit with us.
I hope that you enjoy browsing my web site and will contact me with any questions or comments you may have.
